On Thursday July 6th, 2023, Diane Porter retired from her job as Finance Assistant here at the Centre. She has been a treasured member of staff who has gone above and beyond for so many years.
Di first came to the Centre approximately 19 years ago. Firstly, as a volunteer on a Wednesday, then she joined the Wrexham RDA Group before becoming a coach. She has always been happy to help whenever and wherever she can, be that on the yard, at fundraising events, at weekends, supporting colleagues … the list goes on…
Di is very a knowledgeable coach and has been a huge asset, supporting our participants as they prepare for, and then compete at the RDA National Championships held at Hartpury. One of her specialist disciplines being the RDA Countryside Challenge course … she is fondly referred to by the staff as the ‘Countryside Challenge Queen’! Selflessly, Di spreads her support even further and is very involved with the North Wales Region for RDA too, both as a joint East County RDA Coach and the current Regional Treasurer.
For the past 16 years, Di has worked at the Centre as a member of staff: first as an Office Assistant and then she moved to be our invaluable Finance Assistant. We will miss you on the staff team but we are not saying ‘goodbye’ entirely quite yet. Luckily for us, Di is staying on as an RDA coach and volunteer until she and her husband move up to bonny Scotland.
We'll shortly be welcoming a new member of staff who will be taking over the Finance Assistant reins from Di.
Thank you, Di, for everything you have given, and are a part of, here at CSRC.
Happy retirement!
