Clwyd Special Riding Centre is excited to announce that following several months of staff training with the British Horse Society, we are now accredited to deliver the amazing Changing Lives Through Horses Programme (CLTH).
The Changing Lives Through Horses programme aims to improve the lives of children and young people aged between 5-25 years old who, for various reasons, may need additional support or are disengaged, disadvantaged or at risk of becoming excluded from education.
The programme provides an alternative and complementary learning environment to mainstream education, and the skills developed meet the requirements of ongoing education and training as well as the needs of employers and the participants themselves.
The programme is designed specifically to help support six key life skills: 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀, 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸, 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 all of which are embedded into the equestrian activities.
Horses have been proven to be hugely therapeutic and being in their presence can provide many benefits to help overcome many of life’s daily hurdles and anxieties as well assisting in nurturing skills that could otherwise remain hidden.
We are so pleased be adding this new provision to the growing range of alternative equestrian activities that we offer here at the Centre.
VOLUNTEERS WANTED: We are looking for volunteers who have equestrian knowledge and skills and would like to become involved in the CLTH sessions supporting the lead coach. Sessions will be practical, and your role will be to help support the young people with given tasks to enable them to achieve their goals.
