Meet our newest members of our four-legged team!
CSRC has some new hooves in the stables! As some of our longstanding horses and ponies reach retirement age, we always look to bring in new horses and ponies to take up the reins. With the aid of grants and offers of long-term loans, over the past few months, we have been introducing new horses and ponies to the Centre.
They are all settling in well and we are slowly introducing them into sessions.
MEET THE BOYS...
COBBY HOBBY: Age 5, 15hh, Irish Cob
Cobby Hobby is a real nice stamp of a cob. He is doing well with his training. Cobby is a quality mover and we’re sure he will be a yard favourite.
FIREFLY: Age 7, 14hh, Welsh Section C X
Firefly is an extremely laid-back chap; he is never in a hurry and has a cute and inquisitive personality. Firefly is a versatile pony as he is both ride and drive. As well as being a firm carriage driver, Firefly also partakes in ridden sessions as well as hippotherapy.
GLEN: Age 24, 14hh, Highland pony
Some of you may remember Glen from when he was previously at the Centre as a ride and drive pony. Glen has returned from his loan home where he has been for the past seven years. He is a very gentle horse and likes the slower side of life. We’re sure you’ll see this familiar face plodding along in a few of the RDA sessions.
HARLEY: Age 20, 13.2hh, Highland pony
Harley has previously been used as a Pony Club pony and has kindly been gifted to us. He is a cheeky chap and knows when to take it up a notch with his higher-level riders.
KODY: Age 5, 15.2hh, Cob X Irish Draft
Taurmore Kody is a recent import from Ireland. Kody is a quality horse and will be an exciting prospect for the future. He has a very friendly personality, especially if you have treats! He thrives in the slow lane, and we think he will fit in perfectly at the Centre.
LARRY: Age 15, 16.2hh, Hanoverian
Larry is a very talented competition horse who is on loan to us from Cath Jones. He is to be used by our more ambitious riders to train and compete at BD para dressage. Larry is an extravagant mover with the capability and experience to take our riders to the top!
RODNEY: Age 10, 13.2hh, Cob
Rodney is a very friendly pony and loves attention! He is our newest ride and drive cob and is settling in well. He loves his food and is definitely more slow than go. His best friend is Firefly, both being very inquisitive and easy-going ponies!
TED: Age 19, 13hh, Welsh
Ted is kindly on loan to us from Annie Midwood. Ted is a cute little pony who has taken to RDA life very well and is helps out in our riding and hippotherapy sessions.
THOR: Age 19, 15.2hh, Welsh X
Thor is an extremely handsome schoolmaster who is very well trained. He is the perfect horse to help our experienced riders improve their skills. Thor is also happy to step it down a gear for those wanting a more relaxed pace. He is used for regular sessions as well as para dressage.
JACK HAS RETURNED HOME FOR A WELL-DESERVED RETIREMENT
Back in December, our beloved Jack returned home to his owner John Chaloner.
Jack was a real favourite at the Centre, and he will be missed by many. He had been on loan to the Centre for seven years, and in that time guided many on their therapy journey. A talented horse, he was what we call ‘a good all-rounder’. He was both a riding and carriage driving pony, and he competed successfully at many RDA National Championships. We wish him a long and happy retirement.
