As the Clwyd RDA Group broke up for the summer holidays, we showed our thanks to two of our much-loved long-standing volunteer Coaches.
After many years of helping participants to progress with their riding and equine skills, both Di Porter and Cola Hyde have retired from their coaching positions.
Di has been a volunteer here at the Centre for 20 years. She started as a leader and side walker in riding sessions, before becoming an RDA coach. For 10 years, Di was also a Group Trustee and now has three roles acting for the North Wales RDA Region. And if you need to know anything about the RDA Countryside Challenge activity, this is her specialist subject!
Cola has coached for over 11 years. First with the Dyffryn Ceiriog RDA Group before it became the Clwyd RDA Group. She has organised many additional activities and own a pony days over the summer holidays, as well as raising funds for the Centre.
Both Di and Cola have coached countless participants and their dedication to volunteering at the Centre has been amazing and greatly appreciated by everyone, particularly their riders who showed their appreciation through heartfelt poems and drawings of their favourite ponies.
They may have retired from coaching, but hopefully they haven’t hung their volunteer boots up just yet!
