Changing Lives Through Horses
An Alternative Education Programme
The British Horse Society Changing Lives Through Horses programme is an alternative educational provision that promotes character-building and encompasses the development of life skills and academic achievement. Delivered within an equine environment, the structured award-based programme links to the national curriculum.
As an approved BHS centre, Clwyd Special Riding Centre (CSRC) is the first equestrian establishment in North Wales to offer the programme where children and young people can learn in a safe environment, and nurture skills that could otherwise remain hidden; all whilst under the instruction of experienced accredited professional coaches.
Horses are an empowering way of inspiring children to connect with others, become engaged members of society and improve well-being. It is proven that horses can be hugely therapeutic, and just being in their presence can provide many benefits to help overcome life’s daily hurdles and anxieties.
The programme is offered to groups of between four and six people (age 8 to 25).
